What is a Planner? What is a Stylist?

Q: What is the difference between Planning and Styling for a wedding?

This is a very good question and an important one of course! At Weddings By Design, we offer our Styling services as a stand-alone offering, or you are also able to choose one of our Planning services.

WEDDING STYLING

To put it simply, Styling encapsulates all of the objects brought together for the wedding that has visual appeal. Sometimes they service a practical purpose, and other times they are just there to look pretty!

When a Stylist is engaged for a wedding or event, they are there to set up and pack down the ceremony and reception, and then they leave for the festivities.

Here is a list and although it may not be entirely exhaustive, we have tried to be as thorough as possible. Of course, not all elements night be relevant for your particular wedding:

* Marquee

* Flowers

* Favours

* Lighting

* Candles

*Drink Station Styling

* Flooring

* Linen

* Furniture

* Cutlery

* Glasswear

* Wishing Well

* On the day signage

* Crockery* Guest Book

* On the day stationary (menus, placecards)

* Table Numbers

WEDDING PLANNING

Planning extends to the planning of all aspects of your wedding day and is a much larger piece of work involving the up-keep of a budget, and a full run sheet.

At a full service Wedding Events Company like Weddings By Design, couples will also have a dedicated wedding planner with them for the duration of their wedding to oversee all suppliers and vendors and be the main point of contact on the day. This can be invaluable if you want to enjoy your day and let go of having to think of all the next steps, or run around looking for suppliers, items and venue staff.

A wedding planner can attend as many or as little vendor meetings as a couple would like such as dress fittings, menu tastings and band viewings. And on the business side a good planner will have a number of suppliers they can offer for each item, giving choice and value. They should bring their top 3 recommendations for the couple to chose from.

Here is a list of those elements which should be coordinated under a planning service (which are not included in Styling):

* Venue

* Celebrant

* Videographer

* Accommodation

* Hair and Make-Up

* Catering

* Entertainment

* Photographer

* Bridal Party Attire

* AV

* Cake

* Service Staff

* Invitations

* Bathrooms for an outdoor venue

At Weddings By Design we can tailor our offering to your needs, and in addition to Full Styling and Full Planning we offer an on-the-day coordinator for you to have with you for the day of your wedding. What more could you ask for? The coordinator will be there as the main point of contact for all of your suppliers and vendors (even those outside of the styling realm).

As planners and stylists of extraordinary and effortless weddings we craft personalised events with soul.

Extraordinary. Effortless. Authentic. Intentional
